Londonist (which I follow because I’m an Anglophile) is doing a really interesting series on the lost rivers of London. Definitely recommended for any history dorks/Anglophiles/river dorks.
Are there river dorks?
4 years agoAs much as I was a Trekkie growing up, my first real fandom experience was with Xena: Warrior Princess. I got involved in an email group (Chakram!) and had my first taste of flaming, shipping, and connecting with other people that shares at least one interest (though usually more, and the discussion of gay issues on Chakram and in Xena fanfic helped me feel less isolated as a teenager). I was mildly involved in the Buffy fandom, but it wasn’t until I got introduced to Doctor Who that I started doing crazy things like meeting people in real life (IRL, yo) and attending conventions. This is the feeling I get when I think about being part of the Who fandom, and I’m only involved in a small part of it.
I’m pretty sure this video will never get old.

My office desk. Well, a corner of my office desk. With my only decorations all smooshed into said corner for photographic purposes.
